Support This Site

This site costs about $4,700 a year to run. That’s the hosting, the domain, the products I buy to test, and my share of the tools and internet it takes to research and write it. It doesn’t count the hours.

There are no ads and no sponsors, so it’s paid for by the handlers it helps. If a page here got you through a doorway, you can help keep it free for the next person.

Where the money goes

These are this year’s real costs, rounded to the dollar. Where a tool or bill is shared with my other work, only this site’s share is counted.

What it pays for Per year
Products bought to test (right now, a four-month food trial across five dogs) $2,173
Research and writing tools $1,278
Hosting and the domain $745
Internet and phone (this site’s share) $492
Total $4,688

What a tip does not buy

It doesn’t buy a review, a mention, a link, or a softer verdict. Nobody who tips gets to see an article before it goes up. The rules on How I Review Things apply to every reader the same way, whether they tip or not.

This isn’t a charity, so a tip isn’t tax-deductible. It’s a reader paying for the thing they read, directly, instead of an advertiser paying for their attention.

Other ways to help that cost nothing

  • Send a page to someone who needs it. Most people find this site the day something goes wrong.
  • Tell me when I get something wrong. Write to me and I’ll fix it and note the correction.
  • Tell me what happened to you. The questions readers send are how I find out what people are actually struggling with. Nothing you send is published without your permission, and if it ever is, your name and anything that could identify you is changed. I may use what readers tell me in general form, like counting how often a problem comes up or turning a common question into an FAQ, but never in a way that points back to you.

I’m a veteran and a service dog handler of twelve years, not a lawyer and not a clinician. Nothing on this site is legal or medical advice.
