Amazing Service Dogs is an independent website run by one person, Lucinda Brummitt. This page explains what happens to your information when you visit. It is written to be read, not to be impressive.
The short version: I collect very little, I don’t sell anything to anyone, and I don’t run advertising.

What I collect, and why
When you use the contact form
The form asks for your name, email address and message. I use them to reply to you, and for nothing else.
Submissions are stored in the website’s database as well as being emailed to me, so that a message isn’t lost if email delivery fails. I keep them while they are useful and delete them when they aren’t. If you want yours deleted sooner, ask and I’ll do it.
Your email address is never added to a mailing list without you asking, and it is never sold, rented or shared.
When your message is emailed to me
Outgoing mail from this site is sent through the site’s own mail server, and the plugin that handles it keeps a log of messages sent — sender, recipient, subject and status — so that delivery failures can be diagnosed. Those logs are periodically cleared.
Server logs
Like every website, the hosting server automatically records IP address, browser type, referring page, and the date and time of each request. This is standard web server behaviour, it is used for security and troubleshooting, and it is not linked to your identity.
AI referral tracking
This site records when a visitor arrives from an AI assistant such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Claude. What is stored is the source, the page landed on, the browser’s user-agent string, and a one-way hashed version of the IP address.
Hashing means the original IP cannot be recovered from what is stored. This exists so I can see which articles are being cited by AI systems. It is not used to identify or profile anyone.
Comments
If comments are enabled on an article and you leave one, your name, email address, comment and IP address are stored, along with the browser user-agent string. Comment authors’ details are retained so that follow-up comments can be recognised automatically.
Email list
If you subscribe to email updates, I store the email address you give me and the date you subscribed. I use it to send you articles and updates from this site, and nothing else.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you immediately. The address is never sold, rented or shared.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser.
- Essential cookies may be set by the site’s caching system to serve pages correctly and, if you comment, to remember your details for next time.
- Amazon sets its own cookies if you click an affiliate link on this site — see the affiliate section below.
There is no advertising network on this site. No Google AdSense, no DoubleClick, no retargeting, no ad tracking pixels.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
Analytics
No analytics package is installed on this site.
The only outside service with visibility into traffic is Google Search Console, which reports which search queries lead people here. Search Console shows aggregated, anonymised data — it does not identify individual visitors and it does not place cookies.
If that changes and analytics are added, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.

If you click one, Amazon may set a cookie to record that you arrived from here, so that any resulting purchase is credited to this site. That is between you and Amazon and is governed by Amazon’s own privacy notice. I do not see who you are, what you looked at, or what you bought — only totals.

Who I share information with
Nobody, in the sense that matters: I do not sell, rent or trade your information.
The unavoidable exceptions are the companies that make the site function:
- Stealthost, the web host, which stores the site and its database
- The site’s own mail server, which sends and receives email

Your rights
Whatever country you’re in, you can ask me to:
- tell you what information I hold about you
- correct anything that’s wrong
- delete it
Email hello@amazing-service-dogs.com and I’ll act on it. There’s no form to fill in and no process to navigate — it’s one person reading the message.
If you’re in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you these rights formally, along with the right to object to processing and to complain to your data protection authority. If you’re in California, the CCPA gives you similar rights, including the right to know what is collected and to have it deleted. I do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent me information, email me and I’ll delete it.
Links to other sites
Articles here link out to government sources, organisations and occasionally products. Once you follow a link, you’re on someone else’s website under their privacy policy, not this one.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than slipped in quietly.
